Sushi World Australia Pty Ltd was founded in May 1996 with its first shop opened in Sydney's North Shore suburb of Chatswood. With all efforts directed at rapid expansion, Sushi World's next shop was opened at Wynyard Station only a few months later.

Having then being recognised for its quality and potential brand, Sushi World was approached by the management at Westfield to open yet another shop at Westfield Miranda.
